At My Magic Carpet, we’re all about creating functional rugs with a story behind them. The heart of these stories comes from the brilliant designers who bring their creativity to each piece. Today, we’re shining a spotlight on four of our standout collaborators: Genevieve Gorder, Zing Grem, Heather Myers, and Lucia Bozino.
We sat down with these talented designers to chat about their design journeys, their creative processes, and the inspirations behind their stunning rugs. Here’s a glimpse into their world and the artistry they bring to My Magic Carpet.
Genevieve Gorder: The Creative Force Behind Her Exclusive Collection for My Magic Carpet
Genevieve Gorder brings her signature charm and bold aesthetic to My Magic Carpet with an exclusive collection that radiates personality and warmth. Known for her playful yet sophisticated designs, Genevieve's rugs are a true reflection of her love for vibrant patterns and rich textures. Each piece in her collection feels personal, blending adventure and coziness in a way that invites you to live fully in your space.
Her collaboration with My Magic Carpet highlights her talent for combining beauty with function, creating designs that are as durable as they are eye-catching. Genevieve’s rugs are perfect for everyday living, offering a blend of artistry and comfort.
Zing Grem: The Visionary Behind Bold and Thoughtful Patterns
Zing Grem’s background in Film/Animation and Visual Arts from the University of North Carolina School of the Arts gives her design work a creative edge. Her process starts with thorough research, where she pulls together trend boards and color palettes before sketching out her ideas. She enjoys experimenting with styles in her sketchbook, and once she’s ready, she shifts to digital tools like Procreate and Photoshop to bring her designs to life, blending handmade textures for a more authentic feel.
Working with My Magic Carpet has refined Zing’s eye for color. Even subtle shifts in tone can make or break a rug design, and she pays close attention to these details. Her work on the Parviz and Floral Bloom Rugs are prime examples, where small adjustments made a big impact on the final product. Zing loves how these efforts ensure the rugs complement any home.
At home, Zing gravitates towards bold designs like the Yanis Yellow Gold Rug, which adds a vibrant pop to her bedroom. As for what’s next? She’s working on an exciting, yet-to-be-revealed project with My Magic Carpet—something to keep an eye on!
Heather Myers: A Self-Taught Talent in Home Décor and Rug Design
Heather Myers is a self-taught designer with a strong passion for home décor and rug design. Her journey in the rug industry has been shaped by continuous self-learning and hands-on experience, which has allowed her to refine her skills over the years. Working from her home studio, she draws inspiration from vintage European styles and modern trends, creating designs that feel timeless yet fresh.
Heather’s rugs are always designed to complement the overall décor, acting as the final piece that ties everything together. She is particularly proud of a recent collection of neutral-toned rugs with simple geometric patterns, such as the Samara Diamond Natural Faux Jute, which easily fits into any style, from contemporary to farmhouse. Her design process starts with mood boards, research, and sketches before bringing it all together.
Currently, Heather is preparing a new collection for January 2026, featuring a mix of farmhouse, mid-century, and traditional styles. Though she doesn’t have many of her rugs at home yet, she’s excited to incorporate them into her future space, starting with her Aria Double-Diamond design.
Lucia Bozino: Blending Tradition with Modernity in Rug Design
Lucia Bozino's design journey began in Italy, where she studied art and design in Turin. Initially focused on advertising, her path shifted when she traveled with her husband, exploring textile traditions in India, Nepal, China, Egypt, and Turkey. These experiences opened her eyes to the richness of global craftsmanship, which she now blends with modern digital techniques to create rugs that bridge traditional and contemporary styles.
Her design process starts with hand sketches before transitioning to digital tools, where she experiments with textures and colors. Inspiration comes from diverse sources, like her Cove Green Rug, inspired by a Hermès ad featuring protective stone shapes, or LeilaniI, which reinterprets Renaissance motifs for modern interiors. Lucia's work is about balancing beauty with functionality, such as her Leilani Damask Blue design.
Currently, Lucia is working on a collection for the Asian market, blending traditional motifs with local design preferences. She values the creative process and even revisits rejected designs to refine them, believing every piece helps her evolve as a designer.
